Paul Russell Wilson, 56, walked free from prison in January 2011 after he was deemed to have a low risk of reoffending following the murder of his girlfriend Kimberly Jean Schroder in Hokitika in 1994. Seven years later, Wilson - also known as Paul Pounamu Tainui - brutally killed life coach Nicole Marie Tuxford, 27, at her home in Christchurch, New Zealand, the New Zealand Herald reported. Paul Wilson - also known as Paul Pounamu Tainui - brutally killed life coach Nicole Marie Tuxford (pictured), 27, at her home in Christchurch, New Zealand During the first killing, Wilson - then a 31-year-old sickness beneficiary - broke into Ms Schroder's flat and tied up her male flatmate. When Ms Schroder came home, Wilson cut her hands, cut off her jeans and raped her. He stabbed her in the neck when she made comments about relationships with other men. Wilson was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment without parole, later reduced to 13 years on appeal. He met David Bain in prison, and the pair became friends. Wilson was Bain's best man at his wedding in 2014. Bain was found guilty and later acquitted of the murder of his parents and siblings in Dunedin in 1994. When Wilson appealed to be released on parole in 2007, a psychological assessment described him as having a 'glowing report from the prison'. 'We have had glowing reports of his ability as a worker. Very fine people have testified to that. He is otherwise very well behaved in prison,' the parole board said. Wilson (centre) met David Bain (right) in prison, and the pair became friends. Wilson was Bain's best man at his wedding in 2014 Despite the positive reports Wilson was denied parole five times before it was granted in December 2010. Ms Tuxford was working as a life coach and spiritual guide when she was killed in Christchurch on April 7, 2018. Wilson broke into Ms Tuxford's home in the morning armed with a knife. After killing her, he sped off in her Toyota Corolla and was involved in a minor crash. Police officers took his details but he was free to go. After the bloody crime scene was discovered, Wilson was tracked down by police and arrested. Ms Schroder's father Gary committed suicide after news of Wilson's arrest became public.
