A 33-year-old woman has avoided jail after she smuggled LSD into the Lost Paradise music festival in a jar of hand cream.

Elaine Augusto, from Dee Why on Sydney's Northern Beaches, admitted to putting three grams of the drug into a small resealable plastic bag then placing it into the jar.

The business student from Brazil, who is studying in Australia on a bridging visa, was arrested outside the festival in Glenworth Valley, north of Sydney on December 29.

Police say festival goers are becoming more creative when it comes to sneaking drugs into events, with contraband even found stuffed into a barbecue chicken and aerosol containers.
