A 80-year-old woman has died after contracting listeria from a catering company that supplied her a meal using the 'Meals on Wheels' service that delivers to thousands every week.
'I Cook Foods', from Dandenong South, in Melbourne's south-east, was shut down by Victoria's health department on Friday after six samples taken from their meals tested positive to listeria.
The company delivers to over 13 hospitals and aged-care facilities and eight Meals on Wheels organisations.
There are fears the disease, that is particularly dangerous for the elderly, pregnant and newborns, could potentially have reached thousands more, The Age reports.
