Police officers in China have saved a boy from being washed away by a raging river by forming a human ladder to pull him out of the icy water.

The child, 11, had fallen into the water while playing by the river alone in the county of Yingjisha in Kashgar in western China's Xinjiang Autonomous Region last Thursday. 

Thanks to the officers' quick-thinking, the boy has survived the ordeal unharmed.
