Most Britons die without leaving anything to their families, a study has found.
Six out of ten have less than £5,000 when they die – and most of that is likely to be needed to pay for a funeral, according to researchers.
The findings, based on the records of 60million wills left in England over more than 100 years, suggest that the growth in home ownership that transformed the lifestyles of baby-boomers is not being passed down to their offspring.
