A walker was stabbed as he took his dogs on a path next to a lion enclosure at a wildlife park.

The man, 71, was attacked near the Borth Wild Animal Kingdom in the Welsh countryside on the path leading to the enclosure.

Police say 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack at Borth, near Aberystwyth, Mid Wales.

The 60-year-old man was stabbed just yards from the entrance to Borth Animal Kingdom earlier today. The victim was airlifted to hospital

Police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the stabbing near the animal park

The incident took place at around 9.50am today. 

The 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily jarm. 

Cllr Gwenllian Ashley said the whole community has been left in shock following the stabbing.
