Kaew Sudsopha, 75, was in bed when the deadly serpent slithered through the pipe work, out of her toilet, and into her room in the early hours of Wednesday morning. CCTV installed by her son to monitor his elderly mother shows the snake creeping across the tiles - its eyes glowing as it sizes up its victim. As Sudsopha's foot drops off the bed, the snake is seen rearing up while preparing to strike Snakes entering homes is not uncommon in Thailand, which is home to the python Sudsopha's son rushed into the room and turned on the lights before chasing the snake away The snake emerged from the toilet, where rescue workers later found it curled up As Ms Sudsopha's foot drops off the bed, the snake is seen rearing up while preparing to strike - then lashing out and sinking its fangs into the grandmother's foot. The startled pensioner recoiled with fright and grabbed a torch to reveal the nightmarish scene. She hobbled out of the room and woke up her son, Nakorn, 44, who was sleeping next door at the home in Bangkok, Thailand. 'I thought I was having a nightmare,' Ms Sudsopha said. 'There was a sharp pain in my foot and I woke up. I turned on the torch and noticed something moving on the floor. That's when I saw the snake.' 'I said, ''Where did you come from?'' and walked out as quickly as I could. I don't know why the snake bit me, I was sleeping, not threatening it. Now I'm terrified to sleep in that room again.' Excellent swimmers, pythons often lurk in drainage systems, including pipes and ditches Wet weather and warm climate make Thailand an excellent habitat for pythons Ms Sudsopha's son, an engineer, rushed into the room and turned on the lights before chasing the snake away. Rescue workers arrived and found it curled up on the toilet seat in the bathroom. They then dragged it outside into the yard where it was bagged up and taken to a holding centre where captured snakes are logged before being returned into the wild. 'I'm proud of my mother for staying calm,' he said. 'I don't know how the snake got there but I presumed that the snake came from the pipe and crawling up from the toilet. 'My mother likes to leave the bathroom door open, so the snake slithered out from the toilet to her bedroom. 'I want others to be aware that accident could happen any time, even while you were sleeping. 'If your house was located near fields or rivers, it should be the best to try and prevent the snake from coming into your house.'
