Schools in Western Australia have been urged to include 'gender-neutral toilet options' and scrap strict dress code policies in a bid to stop discrimination against transgender students.

The recommendation from Inclusive Education WA, a specialised resource for schools in the state, aims to create a 'more inclusive environment' for transgender schoolchildren.

Guidelines for schools hosting Year 12 balls encourages staff to avoid implementing strict dress codes, so not to exclude or discriminate against transgender pupils.
