The second episode of the BBC's Alan Partridge revival proved a flop with viewers as audience figures slumped by 40 per cent. 

This Time With Alan Partridge starring Steve Coogan earned more than 3.4million viewers on its debut episode last Monday, winning favourable reviews.

But this week's edition saw barely 2million tune in as viewers branded the reboot 'disappointing' and 'absolutely dreadful'. 

Some TV viewers may have abandoned the BBC One comedy revival in favour of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire on ITV, where a contestant won £500,000 after walking away on the final question.
