One of R. Kelly's girlfriends called her parents after his explosive interview where he denied keeping her against her will to insist she was 'fine and 'happy' but cut the call short when asked why she had not been in touch with her family for two years.
Joycelyn Savage, now 23, met R. Kelly when she was 19 in 2015 and has been living with him for the last two years without contacting her parents.
They fear she is being held hostage by the singer and has been 'brainwashed' into thinking that his treatment of women is normal.
On Wednesday, Kelly, who is facing 70 years imprisonment if convicted of child sex abuse and rape charges, gave an astonishing interview where he protested his innocence, cried and wept.
He accused Joycelyn's parents of 'selling' her to them and 'handing' her over but maintained he had done nothing wrong.
Joycelyn Savage is shown, left, in her interview with Gayle King that will be aired on Friday. She told her family she was 'fine' and 'happy' living with R. Kelly despite the fact she has not been in contact with them for two years. Kelly, right in his own explosive interview, is facing child sexual abuse and rape charges in cases which apply to other women
Hours after that interview aired, Joycelyn called her mother and father for the first time in years. A video of their conversation was obtained by The Shade Room, a celebrity news website, and was posted on Instagram.
It showed Joycelyn's mother, Jonjelyn, asking who was listening in to their conversation and asking her daughter why she had not been in touch for so long.
Joycelyn started the phone call by telling them she was 'happy'.
'Listen to me, I have told you guys a million times, I am OK where I am and I am happy,' she said.
Her mother, Jonjelyn, replied: 'Who is listening to this conversation?'
Jocelyn replied: 'Nobody is listening. I have told you a million times. You know that I am OK. You need to stop.'
Her younger siblings then started speaking and appeared to catch her off guard.
'Hey Joycelyn, it's Jordan,' her youngest sister said. 'We love you.'
Joycelyn replied: 'I love you too. Please put mom back on the phone.'
