Detectives from Greater Manchester Police say that a murder inquiry has been launched after the victim was found dead in her home in Manchester Road, near the junction with Sanderson's Croft road. According to the GMP's Twitter page, there is a 'heavy police presence' at the scene after an ambulance alerted them to the scene. Superintendent Jon Chadwick of GMP's Major Investigations Team said: 'Our thoughts go out to this lady's family and friends at this devastating time. 'We understand the concerns that the local community will have and we'd like to reassure them that we have a team of officers working on this case'.
