The 34-year-old suspect, from Footscray, Victoria, handed himself in to a metropolitan police station on Monday, police said. Detectives from the Transit Safety Division had urged the accused predator to come forward after CCTV footage captured a man leaving the Footscray Railway Station on February 21 at the time of the attack. The girl had reportedly been on her way home from school when she was allegedly sexually assaulted in front of station staff in broad daylight. The man walked away after witnesses quickly intervened. He has been charged with sexual assault of a child under the age of 16 and will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Monday.
