Shamed ex-history teacher, 38, who became a ‘county lines’ drug dealer is ...

A once respectable teacher who got drawn into helping a County Lines gang after becoming addicted to crack cocaine and heroin was jailed for 27 months today.

Angela Davey, 38, made headlines in January when it was revealed she had gone on the run for three months before she could be sentenced for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Norfolk Police released a custody photograph of her while she was a fugitive showing her drug-ravaged features in stark contrast to how she appeared before becoming an addict

Davey appeared shaking in the dock and suffering withdrawal symptoms after she was arrested in London on February 1 as a result of a tip off from a member of the public who recognised her from a news report.

But she looked far healthier today when she returned to Norwich Crown Court for her sentencing.

The court heard how Davey had fallen into drug addiction after losing her job, her partner and access to her two children.

The prosecution claimed that she hired three cars which were used to transport drugs for the gang called Jacob Line between April and June 2017.

She also allowed her home to be used as a base for the dealers in Norwich, Norfolk, in exchange for being given eight 'bits' of drugs a day as rent.

Her descent into addiction eventually led to her selling her house and living in a camper van

It was revealed after Davey had gone on the run that she had won a scholarship to the £14,562-a-year Norwich High School for Girls.

She graduated from the University of East Anglia with a history degree in 2003 and became a teacher for children with special educational needs.

Davey told the court yesterday that the first car she hired had not been used by the dealers, although she and her boyfriend had driven it to a drug dealing area to buy drugs.

She claimed that did not consent to the second car she hired being taken to London on what the prosecution described as a run to buy drugs.

The car was involved in a crash in Walthasmstow, east London, but she failed to report it as stolen for several days, saying she had 'panicked'.

Davey claimed she had been coerced into hiring the third car after threats from the dealers.

She wept as she told the court: 'They kept cajoling me and trying to persuade me to do it and I kept saying, 'No'.

'I was threatened that they could easily make it known to my family and others that I was using drugs. They knew I had been a teacher and the problems I had with my ex partner and the loss of my children.

'They pointed out that they had lots of text messages from me and it would be very easy to expose my drug use. The second threat was that they would cut up my boyfriend. I knew they had knives.

'I was so scared that people would find out what I was doing as I was so ashamed and I was worried that I would not see my children again.'

She denied being a 'significant' player in the gang.

Davey who admitted conspiracy to supply drugs and failing to answer bail was described as 'intelligent and articulate' by Judge Katharine Moore.

The judge told her before jailing her for 27 months: 'It remains unclear why
