Will Connolly was whacked in the face by Senator Fraser Anning and taken to the ground after he slapped an egg on the independent's head on Saturday. The 17-year-old said he did it after he blamed Muslim immigration for the terror attacks on two New Zealand mosques that left 50 Muslims dead. Will Connolly, 17, was whacked in the face by Senator Anning when he slapped an egg on the politician's head on Saturday, following the senator's widely-condemned comments on the Christchurch mosque shooting Twitter has erupted with praise of Egg Boy with many creating 'fan art' to show they stand with the 17-year-old 'The real cause of the bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration programme which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place,' Anning said. Police confirmed the teen had been interviewed and released on Tuesday afternoon, pending further investigation. When asked if it appeared Victoria Police would lay charges against Will, his lawyer Peter Gordon said he had received 'no indication' that would happen. 'But obviously police have got a job to do,' he said. 'To use Will's own words, the police have been awesome.' Mr Gordon also confirmed his client would not pursue legal action against the Senator or his supporters who put him in a headlock. The teen will also donate the money from an online crowdfunding campaign to the victims of the Christchurch mosque shooting. The GoFundMe page has already reached more than $60,000 since it was established five days ago. Meanwhile, the Australian Greens have said they will try to suspend Senator Anning from parliament until the election.
