NYPD officers set up the fake wall made of plywood at the Brooklyn station last week after receiving multiple complaints about the graffiti. The tagger had been spraying #LoveTrump throughout the Borough Hall/Court Street station for several weeks. NYPD officers set up the fake wall made of plywood and a door at the Brooklyn subway station last week so they could jump out a catch a pro-Trump graffiti vandal The recurring message emblazoned on beams in the mezzanine of the station had sparked a slew of complaints since January from both passengers and transportation employees at the station. New York's transit authority would cover the graffiti only for it to reappear soon after. Police had looked at surveillance footage in the subway but cameras don't cover that specific spot. So officers plotted with the transit authority to erect the plywood wall with a door to allow police to easily hide inside. Transit Chief Edward Delatorre said officers took turns hiding behind the fake wall. The tagger had been spraying #LoveTrump throughout the Borough Hall/Court Street station for several weeks The recurring message emblazoned on beams in the mezzanine of the station had sparked a slew of complaints since January from both passengers and transportation employees They had even drilled a hole so they could get a clear view of the vandal. Delatorre said the graffiti vandal took the bait last Friday on the first day of the operation. 'Sure enough, a man came back and put up again a 'hashtag Love Trump' on the beam. So they caught him live, writing on the beam,' Delatorre said. 'They caught our man.' Police identified him as 43-year-old Jamie Montemarano and charged him for graffiti and criminal mischief.
