The former vacation home of the 21st president of the United States has gone up for sale in one of the nation's priciest neighborhoods - at a cool $13.5million

Chester Arthur's 5,900 square foot retreat in the Hamptons, New York originally hit the market again in 2016 after undergoing a 21st century makeover courtesy of renowned architect Steven Gambrel.

The three-story property with six bedrooms and five bathrooms was built in 1796 and was the 19th century Commander and Chief's home away from home during his four years in office from 1881 to 1885.

Previously the home was owned by Guinness heiress Lady Caroline Blackwood.
