A university student has been praised for her work scraping dried candle wax left behind after a vigil for Christchurch.

Julia Prendergast worked until her hands ached, cleaning up the steps at the State Library of Victoria.

Earlier in the week hundreds of Victorian Muslims and supporters had gathered to remember the victims of terrorist attacks at two mosques in New Zealand.
