Two Nebraksa men were stunned to find a fridge full of ice cold beers after spending hours cleaning up flood damage to their home. Kyle Simpson spent Sunday cleaning out his damaged property on the Platte River with the help of his friend Gayland Stouffer. The pair were waist-high floodwater trying to make it the mile back to their car after a full day of hard labor. But when Stouffer spotted the fridge full of beer abandoned and covered in debris the friends could not believe their luck. Simpson told the Lincoln Star Journal: 'He says, "Hey, this is a refrigerator". And he opens it up and says, "It’s full of beer". I said, "Yeah, right". And he reaches in and says "It’s ice-cold". 'It was a gift sent from the heavens, and we were happy to see it. But we hoped the people who lost the fridge were OK, we hoped their property was OK. 'We’ve been there a long time, we’ve been through floods, and this one by far is the worst.' Kyle Simpson, left, and Gayland Stouffer found the mini fridge when cleaning up Simpson's damaged home on Sunday after the Platte River flooded The two men could not believe their luck after they found the refrigerator full of cold beers The fridge survived a house fire back in 2007 and traveled four miles downstream in the flood The refrigerator was packed full of Busch Light and Bud Light and the men's find was shared on Facebook, with images of them enjoying a cold beer. A friend wrote: 'Got a text message from the boys back at Duck Camp [ Lost Island ] The flood left plenty of damage but also left a surprise...' Pictures of them with the packed fridge went viral and the post was shared more than 5,000 times, with users hailing the cooler a 'magic fridge'. And even more remarkably the fridge's rightful owner, Brian Healy, then got in touch. Recognizing it as the fridge kept at his family cabin Brian reached out to Kyle and Gayland, telling them the refrigerator was filled with his father's drink Bud Light and Busch Light for the rest of the family. Healy was able to spot it from the damage it suffered in a house fire back in 2007. The cooler was then moved to their cabin as it smelt like smoke but still worked, Brian said. He added: 'I couldn’t hardly believe they found it all intact. The pictures really made me laugh. 'It’s just a summer cabin, no heat to it. But it had a full beer fridge; you always got to have one of those.' 'We'll make sure he gets his cooler back, minus a couple beers,' Simpson said. Rainfall and swollen rivers, left in the wake of the 'bomb cyclone' winter storm swirling through the US, has left Nebraska inundated with water, neighborhoods completely submerged, and bridges ripped apart. Governor Pete Ricketts declared a state of emergency in 53 counties, saying that one-third of the state has been affected in the devastating floods and 2,600 locals living near rivers were urged to evacuate last Friday.
