Arizona healthcare worker 'sexually assaulted a pain clinic patient while she was under sedation' Xavier Uziel Perez, 38, was arrested on Wednesday in Scottsdale, Arizona Police say he sexually assaulted sedated woman at Integrated Pain Consultants Woman said she was emerging from sedation and became aware of the assault By Keith Griffith For Dailymail.com Published: 15:54 GMT, 21 March 2019 | Updated: 15:59 GMT, 21 March 2019 Viewcomments Xavier Uziel Perez, 38, was arrested on Wednesday in Scottsdale, Arizona A healthcare worker in Arizona has been accused of sexually assaulting a female patient while she was under sedation. Xavier Uziel Perez, 38, was arrested on Wednesday in Scottsdale, where he is charged in the alleged assault on a patient at Integrated Pain Consultants in June 2018. A 48-year-old patient told police that she was emerging from sedation in the recovery room after a back pain treatment when she became aware that she was being assaulted. 'She realized that something wasn't right, that she was being sexually assaulted. Obviously when you're coming out of sedation you're foggy so we were trying to put that together but she just knew something wasn't right,' said Scottsdale Police Officer Kevin Watts, according to AZFamily.com. The investigation lasted several months, and police say it was ultimately DNA evidence that led to Perez's arrest. The alleged assault occurred on June 25, 2018 at Integrated Pain Consultants (above) 'We're happy that we were able to bring it to this conclusion today, it was a timely process but hopefully the victim will get some justice,' said Officer Watts. Until his arrest, Perez remained employed at the pain clinic, where he worked as a transporter who helped move patients. A spokeswoman with Integrated Pain Consultants said that Perez remained employed there because the initial police investigation found no evidence of assault. 'At that time, an investigation had taken place by Scottsdale authorities and video surveillance had been reviewed in detail. Scottsdale police found no evidence of assault, which led the executive team to make the decision Xavier Perez would remain employed,' she told AZFamily. Police say that Perez admitted to the assault in an interview after his arrest, but insisted that it was the only time he had abused a patient. Perez is being held in custody. It was unclear whether he had a lawyer to comment on his behalf. It comes months after a long-term incapacitated patient in nearby Phoenix gave birth after being raped. Nathan Sutherland, 36 was charged in that case. He has pleaded not guilty. Read more: Share or comment on this article: All rights reserved for this news site dailymail and under his responsibility
