Shooters party take two seats with MASSIVE swings and more than 100,000 votes

The Shooters Fishers and Farmers party, who want to weaken Australia's gun laws, have taken two seats in the state election just one week after 50 people were shot dead in the Christchurch terror attack.

The political party which advocates for gun rights retained their seat in Orange, in the Central West region of New South Wales, and nabbed two seats from the Nationals.

More than 100,000 New South Wales residents voted for the Shooters party, representing a positive swing of at least 3.2 per cent.

In her third attempt, the party's Helen Dalton won the safe National seat of Murray from candidate Austin Evans.

The seat was gained with swing of more than 20 per cent from the Nationals who previously held it by a margin of 3.3 per cent.

Ms Dalton confirmed her victory on Saturday evening, writing on Facebook that Mr Evans called to concede defeat.

'I'd like to congratulate him on a gruelling and hard fought campaign,' she wrote.

'This has been an amazing performance by all of you. I'd like to offer my sincere thank you to every volunteer and every person who voted for me.

'I'm extremely honoured to be able to end 35 years of National rule and look forward to representing you as YOUR member for Murray.'
