But at the weekends, Jason Kingsley from Oxford goes back in time to the medieval age by dressing up as a knight to demonstrate jousting and weapons. And the 54-year-old developer's videos have proven to be an unlikely hit on YouTube, gaining more views in a month than the celebrity vlogger Zoella. Mr Kingsley, whose partner is descended from Japanese samurai, owns 15 horses and four suits of armour plus weapons from poleaxes to longbows on his farm. He said producing the videos for his Modern History TV channel helps him unwind - with the most popular clip having been seen three million times. Mr Kingsley, who co-founded Rebellion Developments in 1992, told The Times: 'It puts my brain into neutral. It's positive for the business having that time off. Mr Kingsley said producing the videos for his Modern History TV channel helps him unwind 'It's a sort of time-travelling. We are physiologically exactly the same as these people so you put on the clothes, get on a horse, it allows you to go back in time.' He added that each single suit of plate armour takes multiple fittings and tens of thousands of pounds to create over two years – 'very similar to medieval times'. Mr Kingsley has been involved in jousting re-enactments at castles and stately homes for more than ten years, but only started his TV channel 18 months ago. It gained three million views in a month – faster than Zoella's 1.2million – and his most recent one last week was titled: 'Is the sword more important than the horse?' Mr Kingsley, who co-founded Rebellion Developments, only started his channel 18 months ago In this, he rode a Lusitano gelding called Warlord as he investigated 'the basics of distance and sword use from horseback and how to get the best strike at speed'. Mr Kingsley previously told the Guardian: 'There's a general rule that once you get into this area of enthusiasm, it's not possible to have too much kit. 'I've spent many hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years on my armour and kit. I live by the chivalric code. The idea is that even though you're a big strong man with armour and a sword, and you can kill people, you don't have to do that.' He is also chairman of The Independent Games Developers Association and his Oxford-based company is behind comic book series such as 2000 AD.
