This terrifying footage, viewed more than seven million times, shows a pensioner narrowly avoiding being crushed to death when she trips while entering a lift and it begins to go up as the doors close on her.

The frightening near miss happened in the residential Tianshen Building in Shanghai's Changning District in East China on 23rd March.

CCTV footage from inside the lift car shows the elderly resident with the surname Chen, 63, walking into the doors.

As soon as she goes to enter the lift she trips in between the doors, before she has time to recover the lift doors start to close on her with the lift shooting upwards seconds later.
