A tradie was fired four days into a new job for calling Muslims 'violent and destructive' the day after the Christchurch terror attack.
Thomas Knight-Wagener lost his job at Placemakers Albany, north-west of Auckland, after making the comments.
Knight-Wagener, originally from Kaitaia, told the NZ Herald he was 'having an intellectual conversation' with his new colleagues about Islam.
He mentioned reports he had read about crimes committed in the United Kingdom by Muslims, following a conversation about the mosque attacks.
