Man arrested for 'strangling and sexually assaulting female jogger before ...

New Jersey police have arrested a Jersey City man who is suspected of killing a woman who was found dead after going for a jog.

Jorge Rios of Jersey City has been charged in the murder of Carolina Cano, also of Jersey City.

Cano was found dead in a lake in Lincoln Park last Sunday after police say she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted, according to The Jersey Journal.

Hudson County authorities have charged Rios, 33, with murder, kidnapping, and aggravated sexual assault.

Rios allegedly strangled Cano to death and then dumped her body in a lake nearby.

He has been detained at Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny.

Cano, 45, was found dead not far from where she lived on Sunday morning at around 7.30 am.

Cano, who was originally from Peru and worked as a nanny, was wearing sneakers when she was found and detectives do not believe that she had been in the water for long.

Her roommate told News 4 that she went out to exercise around 5.30 am, as she did most mornings, and never returned
