A Florida man has been jailed on DUI manslaughter and other charges for allegedly killing a father of two while driving high on 'whippets.'
Joseph Franco, 27, of Aventura, Florida, was jailed on March 27 after being accused of running over and killing real estate attorney Amir Pelleg, 34, in July 2018. Pelleg was walking on on a sidewalk in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, with his wife and two daughters, ages six and two, at the time of the incident.
Authorities said that Franco, who was driving a Honda Odyssey, had inhaled nitrous oxide right before he veered his car off the road and hit the Pelleg family, according to the Miami Herald.
