It's traditionally a recreation enjoyed by society’s elite.
But the English National Opera’s director Stuart Murphy is attempting to attract the masses by using popular celebrities such as Holly Willoughby, 38, and Davina McCall, 51, to encourage more ticket sales.
The new ENO chief, who joined the company last year following tenures at BBC Three and Sky Atlantic, is calling on popular British stars to promote opera through their social media accounts.
