Netflix still makes more than $200 million dollars every year from DVD rentals alone.
The streaming giant, which still has 2.7 million DVD-by-mail subscribers, continues to rely on rental profits to boost its income, despite separating the two services in 2011.
Despite the dominance of streaming in 2019, with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video leading the way, and the Disney+ streaming service set for launch in the near future, DVDs still remain a profitable arm of the company and are likely to remain until 2025.
