A victim stabbed in a series of knife attacks in north London is paralysed after their spinal cord was severed, a court was told today.

Jason Kakaire, 29, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates's Court accused of attempting to kill five people in four days in Edmonton by stabbing them in the back.

He was also charged with five counts of knife possession in relation to the attempted murder charges after the spate of attacks between March 30 to April 2.  

Kakaire spoke only to give his name, address, national insurance number, and nationality of British.
