The man stumbled off a cliff near a camping site in the Blue Mountains after he got up to go the toilet. He was missing for more than 12 hours before he was finally found by police at Perry's Lookdown Campground at 2.15pm on Friday afternoon. Four ambulance crews rushed to the site and found the man had broken both his lower legs, was suffering hypothermia and was being treated for spinal and head injuries. Mr Parsell added that the man's condition was 'serious but stable.' Adverse weather prevented a helicopter from getting to the scene, so three special operations paramedics and police rescue 'set up a hauling system to get him out,' said Mr Parsell. The man was finally extricated from the scene just after 7pm. Due mainly to the precarious nature of his spinal injuries, the man was taken by road to Royal North Shore hospital.
