Motorists up and down the UK have hit the roads as the great Easter getaway kicks off with an estimated 14 million trips planned.
Schools across the country broke up today for their annual Easter break two weeks earlier than usual.
The RAC warned that the worst traffic would be seen today with more than 5.3million road users battling for road space with both commuter and commercial traffic.
Motorists are advised to hold off until 7pm if they want to avoid the masses of traffic which are expected.
