Dean Cain attacks for trying to sway Georgia abortion law after ...

Superman actor Dean Cain has lashed out at what he believes is an arrogant film industry for trying influence state laws on abortion.

More than 50 Hollywood actors - including Alyssa Milano, Alec Baldwin and Amy Schumer – this week sent a letter threatening to pull business out of television and movie production hub Georgia if an abortion ban is enacted.

On Friday morning's Fox & Friends, Cain – a 56-year-old single father – said the stars had gone too far.

Dean Cain, 56, disagreed with Alyssa Milano leading a backlash on Georgia's vote to change abortion laws. He spoke about the 'hubris of Hollywood' to say Georgia 'must follow our beliefs'

'The hubris of Hollywood to say to a sovereign state like Georgia, you guys have to follow our beliefs on abortion, is ridiculous,' he said. 'There's a reason the 10th Amendment exists.

'For Hollywood to tell Georgia voters what their views should be on abortion is a huge mistake, and I think it's a giant overstep… But, you know, it's Hollywood. And Hollywood has done that before.'

Cain portrays detective James Wood in Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer. The October 2018 motion picture based on the real life story of Pennsylvania doctor Kermit Gosnell, who stored trash bags of terminated babies, did not get widespread release in movie theaters.

It's something Cain and the film's producer Ann McElhinney have claimed proves Hollywood doesn't want the truth to come out.

'[Gosnell] would induce live abortions and then he would snip the spinal cord of the fetuses,' Cain said on Fox & Friends. 'A viable alive child. And he's in jail for life for that. But the way abortion laws have been going lately, I think he believes he's going to get out. Because even though what he did was so far and above and beyond, he may be the greatest serial killer of all time.'

A 'heartbeat' abortion ban awaiting Republican Gov. Brian Kemp's signature would ban almost all abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected. That can be as early as six weeks, before many women know they are pregnant. Women in Georgia can currently seek an abortion during the first 20 weeks of a pregnancy.

The measure was approved by 92 votes, just one vote more than the majority needed to pass out of the 180-member House.

Milano is currently working in Georgia on a Netflix
