A major motel chain that handed over the names of Latino-sounding guests to immigration officials for two years has agreed a $12 million lawsuit settlement.

Washington state filed the claim against Motel 6, stating the chain gave the details of 80,000 customers to U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement agents between 2015 and 2017. 

Motel 6 released customer information including names, driver's license numbers, passport and green card ID numbers, room numbers, birth dates and license plate numbers.
