A California man accused of killing the mother of his 17-month-old son during a custody swap outside a police station was pictured in court for the first time on Tuesday when he was charged with first-degree murder. Jacob Munn, 30, appeared in the Los Angeles County Superior Court to be arraigned on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the slaying of 28-year-old Brenda Renteria, who was killed with a shotgun blast outside the Hawthorne police station on Sunday. Meanwhile, more information has emerged about the victim of the grisly killing, who was a single mother raising three children. Photos shared on a GoFundMe page launched by a family member show Brenda Renteria posing happily with her two eldest children, a boy and a girl, and with her youngest son who was fathered by Munn. As of Wednesday morning, just over $2,600 has been raised in donations, falling far short of the $15,000 goal. On Tuesday, Renteria's older sister, Elizabeth, wrote a moving Facebook post mourning her loss. ‘No words can truly describe the trauma my family and I are going through at this time its [sic] unbelievable,’ she wrote. ‘I ask that you all pray for my little sister Brenda , may her BEAUTIFUL soul rest in heavenly peace . I pray for the holy spirit to come upon our family so that we may have the strength we need to get through this devastating tragedy.’ Renteria (right) is survived by four siblings, including her sister Elizabeth (left) Munn (left) has been charged with murder in the shooting death of the mother of his 17-month-old son, Renteria (right), during a custody exchange Munn shared a photo of his son warning that he would 'never give up on you' The couple's 17-month-old son (pictured in a photo shared on Facebook by his father a week ago) escaped unharmed Besides her three children, Brenda is survived by her mother, who witnessed her violent death, her four siblings and two nephews. According to investigators, Renteria had gone to the police station on Hawthorne Boulevard on Sunday to pick up her son from the child's father, Munn. The mother had asked her family to come with her to the exchange because she feared Munn, KCAL reported. While standing outside the lobby of the police headquarters, the parents began arguing. At some point during the exchange, Munn allegedly produced a shotgun and fired on Renteria, killing her just steps away from the front door of the police station.
