Donald Trump has weighed in on the United Kingdom's never-ending Brexit deal to take another shot at the European Union.   

'Too bad that the European Union is being so tough on the United Kingdom and Brexit,' Trump tweeted on Wednesday night. 

'The EU is likewise a brutal trading partner with the United States, which will change. Sometimes in life you have to let people breathe before it all comes back to bite you!' 

Trump's tweet came hours after the EU offered British Prime Minister Theresa May a further six months to ratify or rethink her withdrawal deal.

And it comes two days after Trump revealed he planned to put tariffs on $11billion worth of European Union cheese, wine and other goods to retaliate for what Washington says are improper subsidies to Airbus.

'The World Trade Organization finds that the European Union subsidies to Airbus has adversely impacted the United States,' he tweeted on Tuesday. 

'The EU has taken advantage of the US on trade for many years. It will soon stop!'  

The office of the US trade representative has released a preliminary list of EU goods facing additional duties that includes everything from aircraft and aircraft parts to cheese, wine and olives. 

It will be subject to public comment in anticipation of an expected World Trade Organization ruling this summer that would be favorable to the US in a pending arbitration case.

The US claims the WTO has repeatedly found that EU subsidies to European aircraft maker Airbus have caused 'adverse effects' to the US, chiefly to Boeing Co, the American airplane manufacturer. 

The long-running dispute precedes the Trump
