A mother who always wanted to win the lotto had her dream turned into a reality after taking home an eye-watering $1million dollars.

The woman, from Innisfail in far north Queensland, snapped up the large sum of money after winning the Wednesday Gold Lotto.

And it wasn't until the day after the big draw, that she realised she had won.

'When I called her this morning to break the news, she just started screaming with joy,' The Lott spokeswoman Lauren Cooney said.
