Australia's killer flu season has seen 3,092 confirmed cases in April - the most ever recorded for the same month.
Seven people in New South Wales have already died from flu this year and the virus is expected to kill more than 4,000 before the end of the year.
More than 10,000 people caught the flu in March 2019 - the number for March last year was just 3,173, according to official data released by the Immunisation Coalition.

Travellers returning from the northern hemisphere are thought to have brought the influenza virus back to Australia.
Those in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia have been worst affected.
Most Australians get their vaccine in mid-April, before the typical June to September flu season - which leaves people unprotected during summer, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
