A young farmer is calling for greater education about the meat industry in response to the recent 'vegan uprising' spreading across Australia.
Zoe Carter - from Victoria - posted a video to her 190,000 followers on Tuesday, saying a gap in the Australian school system is partly to blame for misinformed vegan ideas.
'The Australian school system leaves this huge gap for people that don't study agriculture, about the meat, dairy, horticulture and cropping industries,' she said.
Ms Carter, 20, also claims social media has 'filled the gap with misconceived, uneducated ideas.'
'Before social media, vegans and vegetarians weren't a huge issue, because they were educated correctly and didn't have these radical ideas put in their head,' the farmer says.
Her video - which has been viewed more than 130,000 times - comes after hundreds of protesters chained themselves to vehicles outside Flinders Street Station in Melbourne on Monday.
