A New York firefighter who survived after being trapped beneath millions tons of metal when the World Trade Center North Tower collapsed on 9/11, is retiring 18 years after the terrorists attacks.

FDNY Battalion Chief Jim McGlynn is a 34-year veteran and was the last of the Miracle 16 to be pulled out alive from the collapsed Twin Towers in 2001.

As he prepares to wrap up his career saving lives, he still can't believe his life was spared when thousands died.

Miraculously, his position in Stairwell B was what saved him and allowed the firefighter to radio for help.
