Fire crews rescue a VERY uncooperative cat from rising Oregon floodwaters Crews from the Salem Fire Department managed to rescue the distressed cat in Independence, Oregon, last Thursday They spotted the cat on top of a wooden post as they were helping a resident evacuated his farm  Video of the rescue showed a man in water waders making his way to the cat before the animal jumped into the floodwaters  The rescuer quickly managed to grab hold of the cat before it was swept away

Firefighters in Oregon found themselves trying to rescue a very uncooperative cat last week when widespread flooding gripped the area.

Crews from the Salem Fire Department were called in to help a resident evacuate his farm near Independence, north-west of Portland, on Thursday. 

While helping the man to safety, the rescuers spotted a distressed cat perched high on a post holding up vineyards.
