Marc Jacobs puts his townhouse on the market for $16million

Fashion designer Marc Jacobs has put his townhouse in New York's trendy West Village up for sale, with a price tag of $16 million.

Jacobs acquired the fashionable pad when it was brand new in 2009 for $10.5 million. 

The interiors were designed to be the height of luxury living by Thad Hayes, John Gachot and Paul Fortune.

So tasteful was the property that it was included in the September 2016 issue of Architectural Digest where it was fittingly described as 'impeccably composed'.

The townhouse is furnished with a superb collection of artworks including Richard Prince, Gerhard Richter, Cindy Sherman, Elizabeth Peyton and John Currin according to Variety.

Spread out across four floors, the townhouse has three en suite bedrooms and bathrooms along with three full and two half bathrooms in 4,346 square feet home. There is also a basement and roof terrace.

An Art Deco-inspired staircase leads to a 450-square foot living room that spans the full width of the townhouse.
