Kat Hammontre, 68, set out on a walking track with several friends near San Felipe last Thursday before she hurt her toes and told her companions she would stay put and wait for them to come back. However, when the group returned along the trail around 90 minutes later, Hammontre and her dog, Tootsie, had vanished. Her husband, Greg Sundquist, was waiting in his car near the start of the hiking track, and told investigators that she never returned to the automobile. She is well-known in the San Felipe community, according to a report in The Seattle Times. Meanwhile, Sundquist has been diligently updating concerned friends and family about the search effort for his missing wife. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, he wrote: 'I spent the afternoon in the command center while highly trained individuals were dispatched out to continue the search. Again I am overwhelmed with the effort that has been done by the Mexican Authorities.' Later in the evening he posted: 'Goodnight Kat and Tootsie, wherever you are. God I miss you'.
