A man and a woman, both said to be 26, fell into a 656ft (200m) ravine while driving on the Profitis Ilias mountain on Sunday, according to local media reports. The peak stands at 1,853ft above sea level and is the highest point on the island, which is popular with British holidaymakers. Two British holidaymakers, reported to be 26 years old, have died after they crashed their buggy on Profitis Ilias (pictured) on the Greek island of Santorini Emergency services were called but struggled to reach the couple because the area is so remote. Their bodies were eventually removed from the ravine and they were declared dead at the scene. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed the deaths of the two Britons. A spokesman said: 'Our staff are assisting the families of two British people who have died on the island of Santorini and are in contact with the Greek authorities.'
