Neighbours were left furious after a traveller family moved into a housing estate and turned their garage into a horse stable.

Johnny Beaney and his wife Andrea caused uproar in their residential street in Essex after relocating from land next to the notorious Dale Farm site in nearby Crays Hill.

Along with their three children Scarlet, Jack Jo and Bobby, the couple share their new home with a mare called Mary.

The couple's big move and frictions with locals is chronicled in new Channel 5 show The Gypsies Next Door, airing tonight at 9pm.

In one scene, a shocked neighbour points out to viewers: 'A horse in a garage in a housing estate is not normal.'
