The 46-year-old Mexican has a U.S. criminal record fro burglary and cocaine possession. Authorities said Chavez was arrested and was being held at an El Paso jail for illegal re-entry. Two other men from El Salvador were also arrested, including a gang member and a convicted child sex offender. Border Patrol said in six months they've encountered 114 different groups of more than 100 people illegally crossing into the U.S. They said that only encountered 13 groups of 100 people last financial year.
