Police have named the 'kind hearted' father who died after he was targeted in a shocking daylight shooting in Birmingham. Remal 'Mally' Hunt, 28, was found with critical injuries on Church Road, Erdington, at around midday on Thursday. Emergency services were called to the street after reports of a shooting but Mr Hunt died a short time later. No arrests have yet been made but officers continue to look for CCTV and speak to potential witnesses. Mr Hunt's family have paid tribute to the 'kind hearted' father today. They said: 'Remal was a very much loved son, brother and father who was kind hearted and will be sadly missed.' And his sister Tamara Edwards added on Facebook: 'Still can't come to realisation that my brother is... gone. 'You will get the justice you deserve, fact! And your name will forever live on. You're in a much safer, loving place now. 'Rest easy in perfect, perfect peace. Until we meet again Mally.' Two forensic tents were set up on Church Road in Erdington, a suburb of Birmingham, where Remal Hunt, 28, was shot dead in the street Emergency services were scrambled to the junction of Spring Lane and Church Street in Erdington at around midday om Thursday West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield said: 'This is a desperately sad time for Remal's family, and we have specially trained officers in place to support them. 'We believe that Remal was directly targeted. 'There will be many people who know what happened and where those responsible are now. 'I would encourage them to provide that information which can be done in confidence. 'I would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Church Road around midday on Thursday - you may have valuable information. 'Remal's family are distraught at his loss and we are determined to seek justice for them.' Witnesses said the victim's brother had to be led away by police in 'an extremely distressed state', although it is not clear if he saw the shooting. Ronnie Douglas, 54, who lives near the scene, said: 'The brother ran over in an extremely distressed state. He was so frantic, the police had to take him away. 'He was very upset and emotional but he needed someone to calm him down 'I came up when it was all cornered off. Its really shocking, I have lived here for many years 'The thing I have found most disturbing is that the police are not being proactive but reactive to these sort of crimes.' 'There were lots of people around but the tent was not put up there for a while. 'It was just a blanket - I have never seen a dead body on the floor like that before. Its truly shocking.' Several surrounding streets were sealed off and there was an incident support unit on the scene One of the forensic tents on Church Road, where the shooting happened early on Thursday West Midlands Police said they believed Mr Hunt was directly targeted and called for those who knew what happened to come forward Labour MP for Birmingham Erdington Jack Dromey spoke of his shock after the incident - and has urged the community of Erdington to unite and to help with the investigation. Mr Dromey said: 'The community of Erdington will be shocked by this tragic murder. My sympathy goes to the victim and the family.
