Scott Morrison claps and sings as he enjoys an Easter Sunday church service ...

Prime Minister Scott Morrison put on an animated display as he enjoyed an Easter Sunday service with his family.

The Prime Minister was surrounded by his wife, their two daughters and fellow worshippers at his Pentecostal church in Sydney's Sutherland Shire on Sunday.

Today's service is the first time the media has been allowed in to see the Prime Minister practicing his strong Christian faith.

Morrison is a devout member of the Pentecostal 'Horizon Church', which preaches about the ability of its parishioners to heal others as part of a radical Christian philosophy.

Nearly 1000 churchgoers were greeted with hugs and Easter well-wishes from the church's elders upon arriving to the service.

Just three rows from the front, Morrison sang and clapped with his wife Jenny by his side.

This Sunday is the first time the media have been able to see the Prime Minister at his church, where he's been a devout member for about ten years.

Outside the service, Senior pastor Brad Bonhomme told reporters that the church treated the Morrison family just the same as others.

'We just treat them like every other family,' he said.

Mr Morrison spoke briefly with media after the service.

'Today is a reminder of the great hope and the reason for that hope is the reason we celebrate today,' he said.

'It's a very special time for me and my family but I know for people around the country and frankly all around the world.

'This has been the bedrock of our family ever since we moved here many years ago.'
