In the latest example of digital age vanity, cash-strapped, wannabe social media influencers are reportedly flocking to a new site that helps people who want to impress their peers with lavish travel pictures, without ever having to pack a suitcase.
FakeAVacation.com is a photo editing service that offers a 'cheap option' for people looking to show off on social media who might not be able to afford to pay to fly and stay in foreign lands.
'They fake it … sometimes because the actual vacation is too expensive, so they plan this way or sometimes they do it to get others envious,' Tom Eda, who leads marketing and support for Fake A Vacation, told Fox News.
'The need was there, and it got incremented by the upsurge of social media platforms,' says Eda.
The company, which launched in 2017, is adding FakeATrip.com for celebrities and influencers at the end of the year.
