Police have recovered a car connected to a missing 15-year-old last seen with her mother and a man who are suspected of murder.
The 2013 white BMW with Nevada plates was found unoccupied near the San Ysidro border of Mexico on Friday by San Diego Police, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The drivers, Roman Cerratos and Maricela Mercado, are suspects in the murder of a 32-year old man found stabbed to death in the trunk of a white Audi in Carson on Tuesday.
An Amber Alert was issued for Mercado's 15-year-old daughter Alora Benitez on Thursday. It was cancelled on Friday after the car was found because alerts can only be issued when police have information about the vehicle a missing child is in.
