Paramedics Bryan Ferguson and Billy Akers are lucky to be alive after the ambulance they were driving ended up right in the middle of a destructive tornado.
The pair were driving their vehicle back from an emergency call when they were blasted by the terrifying winds of an EF-3 tornado.
The duo were in Franklin, Virginia, when all of a sudden a warning came across their radio: 'Attention, all units. Attention, all units. Be advised we are currently in a tornado warning until 11 o'clock in this area. Again: tornado warning until 11 o'clock.'
Moments later, the sky turned dark and a terrifying tornado descended out of the sky landing right in front of them.

Moments later, their vehicle was struck by ferocious winds, rain and tree debris
It appeared as though the vehicle had unwittingly driven into a tornado with 150mph winds

'We were returning from Martinsville. We were headed to our main office in Rocky Mount. We had heard of the weather alerts and were monitoring the situation,' Ferguson said to WSLS .
'As we were coming up the road, we were looking out towards the west, towards where the storm activity looked like it was coming from, thinking it was further away and just watching,' Ferguson said. 'Next thing you know, we're running right into it.'
Shaky video shows the moment the tornado hit as debris pounded the ambulance and bent the right wing mirror. The vehicle was moved around, shaking from side to side as the powerful winds struck. The glass on the rear doors was also smashed by the the powerful winds.
Luckily, there were no patients inside the ambulance at the time.
The tornado ended up hitting Ferguson and Akers' ambulance full on and they had to pull over
The wind and the rain were so powerful that it ended up bending the wing mirror on the vehicle
