A woman who suffered a severe allergic reaction after eating an Aldi Easter egg she thought was dairy free has slammed the supermarket chain for its 'misleading' packaging.
Kayley, last name withheld, from Melbourne, took just one bite out of the Easter bunny chocolate which had a brand label saying 'Dairy Fine', which she misread as 'Dairy Free'.
She is strongly allergic to milk and nuts and was admitted to hospital on Sunday after having an anaphylactic reaction.
Despite the backlash, some members of the Allergy and Anaphylaxis Australia Facebook group rushed to Aldi's defense and called out Kayley for not properly checking the ingredients first
'I'm currently in hospital and was admitted overnight after an anaphylactic reaction from accidentally misreading the packaging on this chocolate. Be careful everyone else,' Kayley wrote on Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia's Facebook page.
'I noticed straight away it didn't taste like my normal chocolate,' she told 7News.
